The UMass Lowell women’s basketball team is gearing up to face America East opponents Vermont and NJIT this week. First, they will travel to Burlington, VT to take on the Catamounts on January 9, followed by a game against the Highlanders in Newark, NJ on January 11. In their most recent game against UAlbany, the River Hawks fell 53-39 with standout performances from Abbey Lindsey, Sydney Watkins, and Alex Gitchenko.
Vermont is coming off a victory against New Hampshire, led by Bella Vito with 16 points. Anna Olson leads the team in scoring, while Vito excels in rebounds and steals. The River Hawks hold a 9-13 record against the Catamounts historically.
NJIT recently defeated Binghamton with a strong showing from Olivia Kulyk. Alejandra Zuniga leads the Highlanders in scoring and assists, while Trinity Williams dominates in rebounds. UMass Lowell holds a 5-7 record against NJIT all-time.
Abbey Lindsey leads the River Hawks in scoring, Maddie Rice in rebounds, and Sydney Watkins in assists and steals. UMass Lowell ranks second in steals and fifth in defensive rebounds in the America East conference. Watkins is a standout player, leading the conference in steals. Following the upcoming road trip, the River Hawks will face Bryant at home on January 18.
