The University of Vermont Board of Trustees elected Cynthia Barnhart as chair and welcomed four new members at a special meeting. Barnhart, a UVM graduate, has been a member of the Board since 2014 and succeeds Ron Lumbra. She is currently provost at MIT and has extensive experience in higher education. Interim President Patricia Prelock praised Barnhart’s leadership. Jason Maulucci, Senator Scott Beck, Representative John Bartholomew, and McKenzie Hart are the new board members. Donald McCree was elected vice chair. Outgoing members include Kevin “Coach” Christie, Carolyn Dwyer, Katelynn Giroux, and Sam Young. The Board of Trustees is comprised of a diverse group of members, including self-perpetuating, legislative, and gubernatorial trustees, as well as student trustees. Each member serves on various committees to oversee the university’s governance and operations. The board’s focus is on guiding and supporting the university through its next chapter of progress and success. The election of Barnhart as chair and the addition of new members signal a new era of leadership at the University of Vermont.
