Hope Mehlberg, a former federal government employee from Oconto, Wisconsin, started a part-time dog walking service that eventually grew into a full-time doggie day care called K9 Konvoy. What started as a stress-relieving walk for her own two dogs turned into a bustling business transporting up to 26 dogs daily on a school bus. Mehlberg’s love for dogs and passion for their well-being led her to create a safe and fun environment for dogs to socialize and play while their owners are at work.
After a chance encounter with a German Shepherd named Zeppelin, Mehlberg’s doggie day care service expanded as more pet owners reached out for their dogs to join the daily walks. The demand grew quickly, leading Mehlberg to quit her day job in May 2023 to focus on K9 Konvoy full-time. With a dedicated bus and a three-acre park for the dogs to play in, Mehlberg’s passion for dogs shines through in every aspect of her business.
Mehlberg’s day starts at 8 a.m. as she loads the dogs onto the bus and heads to pick up more furry friends before heading to the park. She ensures that the dogs have a great time playing and socializing, even letting them get dirty and have fun in mud puddles. After a day of activities, the dogs are cleaned up and boarded back onto the bus to head home.
Despite handling all aspects of the business on her own, Mehlberg finds joy in spending her days surrounded by dogs and believes it is the best job she has ever had. She plans to continue expanding and improving K9 Konvoy to provide the best care for her furry clients.
