Hundreds of Vermonters braved the rain to kick off trout season on the Little River in Stowe. Peter Dulude, a lifelong fisherman, has been fishing at the same spot for decades and now brings his grandchildren along. Trout season officially began on the second Saturday in April and runs until October 31, allowing anglers to catch Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout with a daily limit of 8 fish. Along River Road in Stowe, people lined the water, eagerly waiting for a bite, with some sharing tales of luck like Mackenzie Dulude-Ticehurst, who caught a beautiful brown trout.
The Fly Rod Shop in Stowe saw increased business on the first day of trout season, with customers coming in to gear up despite the rain. Parker Wright of the Fly Rod Shop noted the excitement among anglers and the eagerness to get out on the river.
