Vermont man facing charges for failing to register as sex offender in New Hampshire

David J. Courtemarche, a former Vermont man, has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender in New Hampshire. The 44-year-old was indicted on two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). Between August 2022 and January 2025, Courtemarche allegedly failed to register while traveling from Vermont to New Hampshire for work, despite knowing the legal requirements.

The charge of failing to register can result in a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. Courtemarche is scheduled to appear in federal district court at a later date to face these charges. This case is ongoing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
