The Vermont City Marathon is quickly approaching, with thousands of runners expected to gather in Burlington’s Waterfront Park on May 25. SkiRack recently hosted a kickoff event to give organizers a chance to prepare for the big day. RunVermont board chair Beth Anderson praised the supportive community in Burlington, while attendees had the opportunity to try out new shoes provided by Altra, the official shoe sponsor for the marathon.
After the event, runners took to Main Street and the Burlington bike path for a group run as the sun set. Among those gearing up for the marathon is Rebekah Thomas, a Jericho resident who will be running her 125th marathon and serving as a pacer. Thomas reflected on her first marathon in Burlington in 2001 and expressed excitement for the upcoming milestone race.
With just over a month to go, there is still time to register for the Vermont City Marathon. Runners are looking forward to the event and the opportunity to challenge themselves on the scenic course in Burlington. The marathon promises to be a memorable experience for both seasoned and first-time participants.
