Don Allard to be honored with induction into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame

Don Allard, a former multi-sport athlete from BFA-St. Albans in the late 1950s, is set to be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame on April 26 in Burlington. Allard, a key player on the undefeated Bobwhite football team that won state championships in 1958 and 1959, will be honored for his outstanding achievements in football and track and field.

In addition to his success on the football field, Allard also excelled in track and field, winning the Vermont State Discus Championship in 1960 with a throw of 146-feet-11-inches, a record that still stands at BFA-St. Albans today. He was also a member of the state champion medley relay team and a finalist in the 100-yard dash.

After high school, Allard earned a football scholarship to Michigan State University, where he was recognized for his talent in the Big 10 conference. Unfortunately, an injury cut his football career short, but Allard went on to become an educator, coach, and successful entrepreneur, continuing to inspire young athletes throughout his life.

The Vermont Sports Hall of Fame is honoring Allard for his outstanding accomplishments in sports and his continued dedication to mentoring and coaching young athletes. The induction night celebration will take place in Burlington and will commemorate Allard’s contributions to the world of sports.
