Vermont awards and completes new public art commissions

Vermont artist Noa Younse of Pixel Patch Creative has been chosen to develop a public art design for the Windsor Superior Courthouse in White River Junction. His concept involves tiles that can be added or removed to create movement and connection within the courthouse’s lobby. Younse was selected from five finalists and awarded $42,000 for the commission. The project is part of the Art in State Buildings Program, which aims to incorporate public art into state-owned buildings.

In addition, artist Dan Gottsegen recently completed a public art commission for the Vermont Department of Children and Families Economic Services office in Burlington. His colorful paintings aim to create a welcoming and comforting atmosphere for visitors and staff. The celebration of Gottsegen’s work will take place on April 29 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm at the DCF office on Lakeside Ave in Burlington.

The Art in State Buildings Program has commissioned artwork from over 60 artists since 1988 to enhance state-owned buildings and public spaces across Vermont. The program supports Vermont artists and creates a warm and inviting environment for employees and visitors. More information about the program can be found on the Vermont Arts Council website.
