Shooting Incident in Barre City: Investigation Underway
BARRE, Vt. — The Vermont State Police are conducting an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Thursday, April 24, at a residence in Barre City. The victim, a 45-year-old man from Barre, succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning.
The incident took place at a home located at 879 N. Main St., where the victim was shot in the abdomen. He was initially taken to Central Vermont Medical Center before being transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he died around 4 a.m. Friday. Police are withholding the victim’s identity until his relatives have been informed.
An autopsy conducted on Friday afternoon determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound; however, the manner of death is still pending further investigation.
Authorities have apprehended 43-year-old Donna Robinson from Washington. She faces multiple charges, including burglary, simple assault, and two counts of possessing a firearm as a prohibited person, alongside being identified as a habitual offender. Robinson is currently being held without bail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Investigators have stated that the event appears to be isolated, involving individuals who were acquainted with one another, and confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
