World-Class Jazz Duo Set to Illuminate Stage 33 Live in Bellows Falls
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as renowned guitarists John Stowell and Draa Hobbs take the stage at Stage 33 Live on Sunday, April 27, at 7 p.m. This performance promises an evening of captivating melodies and intricate harmonies, showcasing their distinctive artistry and improvisational prowess.
John Stowell, known for his innovative approach to harmony and chords, draws inspiration from a variety of musical influences, not just within jazz guitar. A celebrated musician with a significant global footprint, Stowell has served as an artist-in-residence in countries including Germany, Indonesia, and Argentina. He made history in 1983 as part of the first American jazz group to tour Russia in over four decades. Throughout his career, Stowell has collaborated with legends such as Milt Jackson and Lionel Hampton, and has received accolades including an Academy Award-nominated soundtrack contribution.
Draa Hobbs, who has called southern Vermont home since 1980, enriches the performance with his own impressive background. A student of jazz greats like Attila Zoller and Gene Bertoncini, Hobbs has performed alongside esteemed musicians such as Roland Hanna and Lee Konitz. He has enjoyed a decade-long collaboration with Stowell and is known for his regional performances across various venues.
