The investigation involves both the Metropolitan Police and the U.S. Secret Service. When approached for comments, Noem refrained from discussing details, citing that the situation is ongoing. The Secret Service did not provide additional comments for security reasons, indicating that public information would only be released if formal criminal charges are filed.
