Rainy Saturday at the Vermont Maple Festival

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Maple Fest Thrives Despite Rainy Weather

Despite soggy conditions, locals flocked to the annual Maple Fest in St. Albans, enjoying a day full of activities and festivities. Young attendee Violet Bilodea expressed her enjoyment, noting, “I’m having a lot of fun,” as she showcased a freshly painted bat face and a balloon animal. For Violet, the highlight was spending quality time with her parents amidst the festive atmosphere.

The event featured an array of attractions, including amusement rides, intricate wood carvings, and live music, alongside a variety of maple-themed treats. Volunteer Brian Howrigan emphasized the festival’s significance, stating, “Agriculture is kind of the heartbeat of Vermont,” and hailed the occasion as a celebration of the state’s rich agricultural heritage.

While Violet admitted her preference for drier weather, noting, “I really like when the rain’s not pouring down so my family won’t get rained on,” the family didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits. They indulged in milkshakes, sugar on snow, snow cones, and sundaes, enjoying all that the festival offered.

The Maple Fest culminates on Sunday with a parade, promising more fun for families and attendees. This beloved gathering continues to highlight the community’s tight-knit spirit and fondness for Vermont’s pivotal agricultural roots, bringing joy to all who attend, rain or shine.
