Maple Festival Wraps Up in St. Albans Despite Unfavorable Weather
Saint Albans City, Vt. – The 58th Annual Maple Festival concluded this weekend, showcasing the resilience of the community as neither rain nor snow could dampen spirits. Crowds lined the streets of downtown St. Albans for the beloved parade, celebrating the end of Vermont’s cherished maple season.
Among the participants was Girl Scout Troop 30456, who put the finishing touches on their float. “We’re here to have fun, hand out candy, and see some of our family members,” said one young scout. As festivalgoers braved the chilly temperatures, they filled Main Street, bundled in scarves and smiles. “I’ve been coming to the Maple Festival just about every year,” shared Meghan from Jamison, Georgia. “It might be one of the coldest festival days, but it’s still fun for sure.”
The parade featured a vibrant mix of activities, including marching bands and creatively themed floats, with the dancing pancakes float emerging as a crowd favorite. One young attendee exclaimed, “The dancing one!” when asked about their favorite.
While maple syrup took center stage, the festival’s food scene captured taste buds as well. Local favorites like blooming onions and Scottish pretzels drew crowds, with Shayla Siddique from Burlington declaring, “I love Al’s French fries, and the kettle corn was really good!”
