Gas Prices in Vermont Remain Steady as National Trends Emerge
Vermont Business Magazine – Average gasoline prices in Vermont are holding steady at $3.09 per gallon, unchanged from the previous week. This marks a slight decrease of 1 cent from last month and a significant drop of 55 cents from the same time last year, according to data from AAA.
This week, prices varied across counties, with Bennington and Windham reporting the lowest at $2.98 and $2.99 per gallon, respectively. In contrast, Essex, Franklin, and Grand Isle experienced the highest prices, peaking at $3.24, $3.18, and $3.20 per gallon.
In Burlington, prices have dipped by 1.8 cents over the past week, averaging at $3.16 per gallon. Despite being slightly higher than last month by 1 cent, Burlington prices are down 48.6 cents compared to a year ago. GasBuddy’s local survey indicates the range for gas prices in Burlington is currently from $3.16 at both the cheapest and most expensive station.
Nationally, average gas prices have increased by 1 cent, now averaging $3.18 per gallon, down 2 cents from last month and 48 cents from a year ago. Diesel prices are also down, currently averaging $3.49 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted fluctuating gas prices across state lines due to recent variances in oil prices, which have risen to the low $60s per barrel. He anticipates national prices will stabilize between $3.10 and $3.20 in the coming weeks.
