Remembering Timothy Atwood: A Life of Passion and Friendship
BARRE, VT — Timothy “Tim” Atwood, age 62, of Barre, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2025. Born on May 8, 1962, in Montpelier, he was the cherished son of Eleanor Atwood (Smith) of Richmond and the late Donald C. Atwood.
Tim dedicated over two decades to the cheese industry, primarily with Cabot Creamery, where he fostered enduring friendships and took pride in his work. An avid outdoorsman, Tim enjoyed activities such as hunting, four-wheeling, and working at his camp, where he often cleared trails with a chainsaw. He loved playing cribbage, fishing, and participating in dart leagues, relishing the camaraderie of friends during the annual horseshoe tournament at Matt Butler’s camp.
A fan of classic rock from the ’70s to the ’90s, Tim enjoyed live music events and local gatherings, often dancing the night away. He was a devoted NFL supporter, particularly of the Seattle Seahawks, and looked forward to Football Sundays, cheering passionately for his team.
Tim is survived by his mother, Eleanor, and siblings Barbara, William (Sharmayne), and Linda (Timothy), along with numerous nieces and nephews with whom he made countless memories at their family camp. He leaves behind many dear friends, including Bob Martin and Bob Durham, whose companionship was a significant part of his life.
A graveside service will take place on May 9 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tim’s name to Waterbury Ambulance, recognizing their care and dedication. Condolences can be left online at www.perkinsparker.com.
