Jacob Henriques, the assistant admissions director at Emmanuel College in Boston, faces serious charges after allegedly soliciting underage college applicants for sex. Prosecutors announced on Friday that the 29-year-old was arrested on charges of attempted sex trafficking of a minor. Leveraging his position, Henriques is accused of accessing personal information of admitted and prospective students to initiate contact with them.
On April 25, he reportedly met with at least three students and offered payments for sexual encounters, sharing pornographic materials in the process. Notably, a 17-year-old girl was propositioned after receiving a campus tour; Henriques inquired about her local high school and subsequently began texting her, offering $400 for sex and sending explicit videos. Prosecutors revealed that he had accessed her profile 47 times over several days and resorted to emailing her after she blocked his number.
Emmanuel College has confirmed Henriques’s employment, which has since been terminated. The institution expressed deep regret and outrage about the allegations, affirming their commitment to core values and support for victims. Upon learning of the incidents, the college immediately notified law enforcement, leading to an investigation by the FBI’s Boston Division, which is attempting to identify any additional victims.
Henriques is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boston, although it remains unclear if he has legal representation. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000, with a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment for attempted sex trafficking of a minor.
