Eighteen Vermont Businesses Receive $679,095 Through Working Lands Enterprise Initiative
Montpelier, VT – In a boost for Vermont’s agricultural community, 18 local businesses have been awarded a total of $679,095 through the 2025 Working Lands Enterprise Initiative Business Enhancement Grant. This initiative encompasses a variety of sectors, including dairy, maple production, fine woodworking, and produce.
According to Danielle Fitzko, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, these grants are pivotal in supporting Vermont’s local food and wood product industries. “From farms to forests, this work reflects the heart of Vermont’s identity and adds to the strength and resilience of our working landscape,” she stated.
Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Secretary, Anson Tebbetts, emphasized the significance of the program, noting it fosters positive impacts for those earning a living from Vermont’s land. He stressed, “Investing in our farm and forest businesses helps our rural communities and economies thrive.”
In addition to grant announcements, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is hosting virtual listening sessions on May 7 and 8 concerning the future of Vermont dairy. The May 7 session is tailored for young and beginning dairy farmers, while the following day’s discussion is open to all stakeholders interested in Vermont’s dairy landscape.
VAAFM is also offering a free webinar on May 22 for businesses interested in exporting wood products, providing guidance on market research and international marketing.
