April 25, 2025 – Burke, VT—Burke Mountain Resort is entering a new chapter following the approval of its sale to Bear Den Partners LLC for $11.5 million, sanctioned by Judge Darrin Gayles of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on April 24, 2025. This sale marks a significant turning point after years of uncertainty linked to former owner Ariel Quiros and securities fraud incidents involving Jay Peak and Burke.
In a heartfelt message to the community, Jon Schaefer, CEO of Bear Den Partners, praised the loyalty of employees, pass holders, and residents during nearly nine years of challenges. "For the first time in a decade, Burke Mountain is free from the shadow of an investment scandal," Schaefer said. Bear Den Partners includes the Graham family, which aimed to save the mountain from closure back in 2000, alongside the Schaefer family, owners of Berkshire East and Catamount Ski Areas.
