ENOSBURGH FALLS, Vt. (WCAX) — Baking has become more than just a hobby for Kayla Beaudoin; it’s a thriving business under the name Mama’s Kitchen VT. Known primarily for her extravagant cheesecake cups, Beaudoin has expanded her menu to include enticing creations like peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies, packed with Reese’s Pieces and chunks of chocolate.
Having started her baking journey about 12 years ago, Beaudoin’s passion was ignited during her pregnancy cravings for cheesecake. A self-taught baker, she credits social media platforms like TikTok and online baking communities for inspiring her to experiment and elevate her skills.
The turning point for Beaudoin came during the pandemic, when she decided to transform her baking passion into a home-based business to spend more time with her two children. After obtaining a kitchen license, her venture flourished, and her visually striking baked goods gained a substantial following, thanks to word-of-mouth recommendations.
“It’s kind of shocking, really, to have that many people support something that you love to do,” Beaudoin said, expressing gratitude for her community’s encouragement. Mama’s Kitchen VT has established itself in stores from Franklin County to South Hero, alongside a weekly menu where customers can place special orders.
Beaudoin embraces the creativity of her work and the joy it brings not only to herself but also to her customers. “I like working with my hands, I like being creative,” she remarks. “And I like being here for my kids.” As her customer base continues to grow, it’s clear that this local baker is serving up not just treats but a sense of community, sweetness, and inspiration.
