Vermont Track & Field Concludes ECAC/IC4A Championships with Strong Performances
Fairfax, Va. – The Vermont Track and Field team wrapped up the second day of the ECAC/IC4A Championships with notable achievements from five athletes. The Catamount women finished 22nd with seven points, while the men tied for 23rd with six points.
Head coach Matt Belfield praised the team’s performance, highlighting Eli Lammi’s bronze medal in the discus with a personal best throw of 49.27 meters, just shy of the school record. He also commended Sophia Filali, who secured eighth place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.82, marking the seventh fastest time in program history. Erin Carty contributed to the team’s efforts with a personal record of 1:04.40 in the 400 hurdles, finishing 13th.
In addition to Lammi and Filali, the results for the Catamounts included Samantha Alexander and Adriana Rodriguez, who placed 13th and 14th in the discus, throwing 38.00 meters and 37.43 meters, respectively.
Looking ahead, the season isn’t over for Vermont as senior Emma Wapshare is set to represent the program at the NCAA Championships. She currently ranks 42nd on the NCAA Division I East Outdoor Qualifying List with a javelin throw of 46.56 meters. Wapshare has qualified for the NCAA East First Round, scheduled for May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Florida.
