Vermont State Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating Missing Woman

RUTLAND, Vt. – Vermont State Police are urgently seeking the community’s help in locating 79-year-old Julia Peterson, who has been reported missing. Peterson was last seen leaving her Pittsfield residence at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. She was driving a black 2011 Toyota Rav4, which bears Vermont registration “GCE306.”

Troopers report that Peterson was last accounted for at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday at the Stewart’s Shop on Woodstock Avenue in Rutland City. After leaving the shop, she was headed eastbound on Woodstock Avenue.

Peterson is described as being about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. She has hazel eyes. Given the circumstances, authorities are concerned for her safety and are actively searching for any leads that could assist in her recovery.
