Saquon Barkley of the Eagles Selected as Cover Star for Madden NFL 26

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley has been named the cover athlete for EA Sports’ Madden NFL 26, announced on Monday. The standard cover features Barkley’s impressive backward hurdle over a defender from Week 9 of the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning season. The deluxe edition showcases a close-up of Barkley in his game-day attire.

In the previous season, Barkley set a new NFL single-season rushing record, including postseason totals, with 2,504 yards, surpassing Terrell Davis’s mark of 2,476 yards. He concluded what many consider one of the greatest debut seasons for a free agent in Philadelphia sports history, amassing 18 rushing touchdowns along the way.

Expressing his excitement, Barkley stated in an EA Sports news release, “Starring on the cover of Madden NFL 26 and being named to the Madden NFL ‘99 Club’ are both dreams come true. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and Eagles fans for their support, and I can’t wait to hit the field again to give Madden players more highlight-reel moments in Madden NFL 26.”

Barkley becomes the first Eagles player to feature on the cover since Donovan McNabb graced the cover of Madden 06, marking a significant moment for both the player and the franchise. With expectations high for the upcoming season, fans are eager to see how Barkley translates his real-life success into more memorable moments within the Madden video game franchise.
