Arias-Cristobal, who has lived in Georgia since age four, described the emotional toll of the incident, feeling that her life will never return to the way it was. She is a dedicated student pursuing a degree in finance and economics with the help of a national scholarship from TheDream.US, which supports undocumented youth. The mistaken stop and subsequent detention demonstrate the vulnerabilities Dreamers face, even when they abide by the law.
Advocates, including Gaby Pacheco from TheDream.US, emphasize the urgent need for permanent legal protections and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, asserting that they contribute significantly to American society.
