Staten Island Man Sentenced to Over Three Years for Fentanyl Distribution
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Xavier Parker, a 31-year-old Staten Island resident, has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl in Vermont while on supervised release. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont confirmed his plea of guilty to conspiracy charges relating to the distribution of the potent narcotic, occurring in February and March 2024 in St. Johnsbury.
Parker’s sentence includes 18 months for the drug charge, followed by a consecutive 24-month term for violating his supervised release from a prior conviction in 2020 for heroin and cocaine distribution. He began his supervised release in August 2022.
The charges arose after Parker was involved in multiple controlled drug purchases, during which he was arrested with substantial quantities of illegal substances. Authorities found him in possession of approximately 12.1 grams of cocaine base, 2.2 grams of fentanyl, 0.67 grams of heroin, and 5.6 grams of cocaine at the time of his arrest.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael P. Drescher praised the collaborative efforts between Homeland Security Investigations and the Vermont State Police, which played a crucial role in the investigation leading to Parker’s sentencing.
The case underscores the ongoing battle against the distribution of dangerous narcotics in the region, especially as fentanyl continues to pose significant health risks. Parker’s sentencing reflects the legal system’s commitment to addressing drug-related offenses and enforcing the terms of supervised releases among prior offenders.
