Catamounts Fall to Bulldogs in Thrilling Home Finale
Burlington, VT – The Vermont Catamounts suffered a narrow 16-14 defeat against the Bryant Bulldogs in a tense America East matchup at Virtue Field on Saturday. Lydia Doraz once again demonstrated her skills, netting five goals for the second consecutive game, while Caitlin Haggerty delivered a standout performance with a career-high four goals and three assists.
Despite the strong efforts from Doraz and Haggerty, Vermont (5-9, 1-4 AE) was unable to secure a win during their final home game of the season, capping off a hard-fought contest that featured momentum swings and competitive play. The game also served as the team’s annual Youth Day, highlighting the commitment to community engagement.
Bryant (9-6, 4-1 AE) started strong, quickly taking a lead that Vermont struggled to overcome. Haggerty’s equalizer just 37 seconds into the first quarter ignited hopes for the Catamounts, but the Bulldogs answered with a scoring spree, forcing Vermont to chase a growing deficit throughout the match.
