Tragic Collision in North Hero Claims Life of Young Motorcyclist
NORTH HERO, Vt. — A fatal crash on U.S. Route 2 near Savage Point Road has left one person dead and another severely injured, according to Vermont State Police. The incident occurred when a vehicle traveling southbound crossed the centerline, colliding with two northbound motorcycles.
The collision resulted in the on-site death of 20-year-old Hunter Rounds from Grand Isle. The second motorcyclist, 51-year-old Jason Rounds, also from Grand Isle, was rushed to the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) with serious but stable injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Ellen Willson of St. Albans, has been arrested and charged with Gross Negligent Operation with Death Resulting. She is set to appear in Grand Isle County Court on August 7 for her arraignment.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the dangers faced by motorcyclists in the area. Community members are mourning the loss of Hunter Rounds, while also expressing their hopes for Jason Rounds’ recovery.
