Vermont Fish and Wildlife Seeks Volunteers for Canada Goose Tagging Event
ADDISON, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to assist in the annual roundup of Canada Geese on July 2. The tagging of these birds with identification bands plays a crucial role in tracking their population across the state, providing valuable data for wildlife management.
This year, the department aims to gather between 30 to 70 volunteers for the event, which will take place at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area, located off Route 17 in Addison. Interested participants are encouraged to arrive by 8 a.m. on the day of the event.
To ensure smooth coordination, volunteers are advised to call the Fish and Wildlife office in Essex at 878-1564. In case of inclement weather that could necessitate rescheduling, volunteers should leave their contact numbers for timely updates.
This initiative not only helps the department manage the goose population effectively but also fosters community engagement in wildlife conservation efforts. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about local wildlife and contribute to important ecological research.
For additional information about the event or to stay updated, individuals can visit the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department’s website.
This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to get involved in local conservation efforts while enjoying a day outdoors. Whether you’re an avid bird enthusiast or just looking for a unique way to contribute to your community, the Canada Goose tagging event promises to be both rewarding and educational.
