BBQ & Brew Festival Returns to Rutland with Exciting Changes and a Purpose
RUTLAND, VT – The popular BBQ & Brew Festival is set to return to the Vermont State Fairgrounds on June 21 and 22, from noon to 6 p.m., promising an unforgettable experience for visitors. Now in its third year, the festival, which began as a local initiative to boost Rutland’s economy, has evolved significantly since its inception.
“This year, we’re focusing more on the barbecue aspect, making it a qualifier for the Jack Daniel’s World Championship,” said co-organizer Josh Butler. The festival will feature competitors from across North America, including teams from Texas, Canada, and New England, vying for slots in this prestigious BBQ event held annually in Tennessee.
Originally established to honor veteran Joshua R. Pallotta and support the Josh Pallotta Fund, the festival donates a percentage of its proceeds to this nonprofit organization, which focuses on preventing veteran suicides.
This year’s lineup promises a diverse array of barbecue offerings, with favorites like bacon-wrapped hot dogs and unique dishes such as pulled pork sundaes and loaded tater tots. Competitors will be judged across multiple categories, including brisket and ribs, with a total prize pool of $10,000.
In addition to barbecue, the event will feature family-friendly activities, including a kids’ cooking competition, live music from local talent, a cornhole tournament, and various entertainment options like bounce houses and dunk tanks.
“The goal is to showcase Rutland, drawing in visitors and stimulating the local economy,” Butler added.
