Local Concert Series Celebrates Talent: Stockwell Brothers Headline Upcoming Performance
Putney, VT – June 29, 2023 – Twilight Music and Next Stage Arts are thrilled to continue their 22nd season of the Twilight on the Tavern Lawn concert series, presenting bluegrass and contemporary folk quartet The Stockwell Brothers this Sunday at 6 p.m. The concert, part of a series running through August 24, will take place on the scenic lawn of Putney Tavern, where attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. In case of rain, the event will relocate to Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill.
The Stockwell Brothers, consisting of Bruce, Barry, Alan, and Kelly Stockwell, are known for their unique blend of traditional and progressive styles, featuring innovative singer-songwriter material enriched with banjo and three-part harmonies. The ensemble showcases the talent of Bruce Stockwell, a Merlefest bluegrass banjo champion, who has shared the stage with prominent artists spanning decades. Admission is free, with donations welcomed, and local food options will be available.
In addition to the music series, excitement builds for the grand opening of Town Hall Theater’s new wing and the Maloney Public Performance Plaza, occurring on June 27 and 28. This two-day festival will feature a diverse array of entertainment, including performances by Mihali of Twiddle and jazz icon Rodney Marsalis, alongside food trucks, children’s activities, and more.
Further enriching the local arts scene, Next Stage Arts will host "The Other Mozart" on June 27 and 28, a compelling play that uncovers the story of Nannerl Mozart, sister to Amadeus, blending history with inventive musical elements.
