Vermont Celebrates Agricultural Heritage with Fairs and Funds
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the state’s rich agricultural heritage at the seasonal Fairs and Field Days. With a dozen vibrant events scheduled across Vermont this summer and fall, attendees can delight in an authentic experience featuring local produce, livestock shows, handmade crafts, and various entertainment options. From the charm of 4-H livestock competitions and the tastes of local food vendors to the thrills of carnival rides, these gatherings promise something for everyone. In addition, the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center has allocated $903,190 in Dairy Co-Packing Grants to nine dairy businesses in four Northeast states, including two Vermont enterprises. These funds aim to enhance production capabilities and expand product lines in the dairy sector.
Community engagement continues to thrive with the VCRD Community Leadership Summit on August 11, designed for community builders statewide. The summit will feature workshops, panels, and networking opportunities, equipping participants with essential skills and ideas to foster vibrant local communities.
For those interested in agriculture, Rural Vermont is hosting a chicken processing workshop on July 20 at Hillside Farm. Participants will learn vital skills while taking home a whole pastured meat chicken.
Finally, specialty crop producers can enhance their market reach with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Marketing and Branding Toolkit, designed to help them effectively communicate their product stories and attract customers.
