Bobby Sherman, the beloved teen idol of the 1960s and ’70s, passed away at the age of 81. His death was announced by his wife, Brigitte Poublon, who poignantly shared that he left the world holding her hand, exemplifying his enduring love and grace. With his charming smile and iconic shaggy hairstyle, Sherman rose to fame through catchy bubblegum pop hits such as “Little Woman” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me.” His face adorned the covers of popular magazines and merchandise, earning him a spot as No. 8 on TV Guide’s “TV’s 25 Greatest Teen Idols.” He had several Top 10 Billboard hits and starred in notable shows like “Here Come the Brides” and “Getting Together.” His debut single, “Little Woman,” achieved a gold record in 1969.
Sherman’s journey into fame commenced unexpectedly at a Hollywood party, leading to his breakthrough role on ABC’s rock show “Shindig!” as well as his acting and music careers. However, he later chose to transition away from the spotlight, becoming a certified emergency medical technician and instructor for the Los Angeles Police Department.
His dedication to helping others led him to receive multiple awards, including LAPD’s Reserve Officer of the Year. Even as he embraced a quieter life, Sherman participated in nostalgia tours with fellow ’60s idols and co-founded a foundation to support children in Ghana.
