Stoweflake Mountain Resort Auction Canceled Amid Financial Uncertainty
By Timothy McQuiston, Vermont Business Magazine
The foreclosure auction for the Stoweflake Mountain Resort, initially set for July 14, has been canceled, leaving questions about the future of the resort and spa located at 1746 Mountain Road in Stowe. Tyler Hirchak of the Hirchak Company confirmed the auction’s cancellation but provided no further updates on the resort’s status.
Originally sold by the Baraw family in December 2021 for $13 million, the resort has changed hands multiple times. In 2024, it was acquired by Massachusetts-based Jamsan Management for $19 million. The property, which carries debts exceeding $15 million, features a range of amenities including 116 hotel rooms, a conference center, a spa, and additional rental opportunities.
The Vermont Superior Court approved the foreclosure following a judgment against JHM Stowe, LLC and its VP, Ashok Patel. M2 Stowe LLC financed the acquisition and holds the right to auction the property or possibly take control themselves. The pending foreclosure process may lead to a public sale unless JHM Stowe redeems it by paying the total amount owed by April 10, 2025.
Jamsan Management operates several Vermont hotels, yet details regarding the status of Stoweflake remain vague, as the company has not responded to inquiries. The Stoweflake continues to be listed on Jamsan’s website, although reservations cannot be processed.
As this situation unfolds, the future of one of Vermont’s notable wedding venues and hospitality destinations hangs in the balance.
